DEFINITION: Censorship is when the media blocks or doesn’t say the whole truth. They do this because certain news have a negative impact so the government pays the media to censor it (just tell the positive part of the story or just don’t publish it at all.)
INTRODUCTION:
In this tab we will show you the types of censorship that exist and what each of them do, we will give you examples so you can understand them better.
TYPES OF CENSORSHIP:
HEROES OR TRAITORS:
A whistleblower is a person who leaks classified information, he/she can “blow the whistle” when they find out where they’re working is doing something that is not right, most complaints can sometimes be considered as information shared by whistleblowers. The problem with whistleblowers is that sometimes they don’t know the limit because they might leak information that’s classified, which can be illegal (depending on the information they share.) There are hundreds of famously known whistleblowers, most of them are Americans. They’re people who work in NSA or CIA. I think these people should be considered heroes because they are risking their highly-paid jobs and lives just to make sure the people know what is going on. In reference to Edward Snowden’s case, I think he should be considered a hero and should return to his country. The people who think he’s a traitor should open their eyes and see what’s really happening, like I said before, most whistleblowers are from USA, which means that they have a lot of things to hide, they should think twice about trusting their government, and be thankful for the people who risk it all in order to make sure the citizens know what the people who rule their country are doing behind their backs. Researching about other whistleblowers has really opened my eyes. I didn’t think that the U.S. government had so much things to hide. These people feel so guilty about their jobs that they have to tell the world the truth, not even caring about the repercussions doing this will have.
CONCLUSION:
Finding examples of censorship was pretty hard because we, as the public, don't know if what the media is saying is completely true or if it's censored. We hope you understood censorship and look for it when you read or hear the news.
